PAD UP: MAN O' WAR OYO STATE COMMAND (FEMALE UNIT) CELEBRATES MENSTRUAL HYGIENE DAY 2022


Menstrual Hygiene Day takes place on 28 May every year. It's a chance to highlight the importance of menstrual care, and raise awareness about the issues faced by those who don't have access to sanitary products.

Voluntary organisations, Nonprofits government agencies, the private sector, the media, and individuals come together to celebrate Menstrual Hygiene Day and advocate for the importance of good menstrual hygiene management.

The female unit of Man O' War Nigeria Oyo State Command (Gallant Female Unit) led by the unit Commandant (ASMOW. Salako Azeezat. O.) with respect to celebrating the Menstrual Hygiene Day organised a pep talk tagged: PAD UP which was observed in two female only secondary schools in the state; this includes: St. Anne's School, Molete, Ibadan and Queen of Apostle Girls School, Oluyoro, Oke Ofa, Ibadan.

Aside the sourvenir being distributed to the students, they were being taken on Menstrual Hygiene Management lecture.

The unit commandant stated that "periods are a natural process and a part of nearly every girl's life. But without access to toilets or menstrual products at school, many girls are missing out on their education - and putting their lives on hold, as they have little choice but to stay at home."

"Poverty and stigma caused by menstrual hygiene mismanagement has a huge impact on girls' education. It's estimated that one in 10 girls in Africa will miss school when they have their periods due to menstrual inconveniences.

While speaking with correspondent from Amuludun FM, ASMOW Salako adviced fellow ladies to keep their personal hygiene a priority for them to gain a good self esteem in their immediate environment.

The student representatives from the two schools, however, shew a heart of gratitude by appreciating the organisation Man O' War Nigeria Oyo State Command, the organiser, Gallant Female Unit and the convener, the female unit commandant

Oyo State Government Commits to Unwavering Support of Man O' War in the State
