A Year in Office; Looking Back in Time to Predict the Future

SOME ACHIEVEMENTS RECORDED WITHIN A YEAR OF THE LUKMAN-LED ADMINISTRATION OF MAN O’ WAR NIGERIA, OYO STATE COMMAND

Inaugurated in April 2022, the present state command executive of Man O' War in Oyo state clocked a year in office recently.



This milestone in the administration is an avenue to look back and observe what has been done to move the organisation forward in Oyo state.

Below are some of the memorable achievements of the Yekeen Lukman-led state command executives;

1. Renovation of the state command office at Iwo-Road (ongoing).

2. Constitution of Committees and appointment of aides at the state command level to focus on various peculiar challenges the state command have been facing.

3. Re-awakening of Area and Unit commands to their responsibilities in their community such as traffic and crowd control.

4. Participation in the state government functions as invited.

5. Welfare of members through financial assistance, visitations, birthday celebrations and so on. The State Commander also made himself available to listen to members concerns. 

6. Appointment into Area and Unit Command executive positions after training and induction programmes.

7. Regular holding of state command general meetings, stakeholder meetings and so on.

8. Appointment of Zonal Liaison officers to encourage the development of the organisation across all geo-political zones in the state.

9. Improved the general discipline among members using various methods such as the constitution of the State Disciplinary Committee, release of circulars and use of the provost marshals.

10. Effective dissemination of the activities of the organisation using electronic media. Regular appearance on radio and TV programmes to spread the gospel of Man O’ War.

11. Ranking of members as approved by the National Command and resuscitation of the state blog for effective information dissemination.

12. Engagement of local government chairmen in the state towards the progress of Man O’ War Nigeria.

13. Re-jigging the state rescue unit for effective service delivery.

14. Visitation to various government agencies in the state such as the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Department of Sate Services (DSS), National Orientation Agency (NOA) and so on. The visit enabled the marketing of the organisation aims and objectives and foster better working relationships for the development of the organisation.

15. Assisting the law enforcement agents in combating crimes. This included the apprehension of suspects and their handing over to the Nigerian Police.

16. The administration organized a “Trek for Good Governance” in October 2022 as the organisation contribution to the safe conduct of national elections through advocacy.

17. This administration established the Drills Squad Unit to cater for drills as it is an important aspect of the paramilitary experience.

18. Some members are currently enrolled in courses introduced via the Institute of Criminology and Strategic Studies. This is aimed to improve the knowledge base of the members.

19. Visitation to Man O’ War formations in all the geo-political zones of the state to have a first-hand information about the challenges being faced and devising appropriate solutions.

20. Contribution to the climate change war by embarking on a tree-planting exercise as part of the one-year anniversary of the current regime at the piece of land owned by the state at Bakatari village in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State.

In all, while so much has been done within a year, there are still a lot to be done to steer the ship of the organisation towards the promised land.

Without a doubt, the future of the organisation is very bright. This is corroborated by the many achievements of the organisation in Oyo state within a short period of time. In conclusion, it is obvious that the present state command executives are willing, able and ready to go.

Oyo State Government Commits to Unwavering Support of Man O' War in the State

This was made known by the State Governor, Engr. ‘Seyi Makinde on Saturday the 7th of October 2023 at the finals of the maiden edition of the annual sports fiesta of the Man O' War organization in Oyo state. PAD UP: MAN O' WAR OYO STATE COMMAND (FEMALE UNIT) CELEBRATES MENSTRUAL HYGIENE DAY 2022 Menstrual Hygiene Day takes place on 28 May every year. It's a chance to highlight the importance of menstrual care, and raise awareness about the issues faced by those who don't have access to sanitary products. Voluntary organisations, Nonprofits government agencies, the private sector, the media, and individuals come together to celebrate Menstrual Hygiene Day and advocate for the importance of good menstrual hygiene management.
